Solidarity communities to combat new forms of poverty in Italy

The project ‘Solidarity communities to combat new forms of poverty in Italy’ aims to strengthen community welfare to combat new forms of poverty that are growing among young people.
Poverty of literacy, of commitment and social and political involvement, of meaning and listening.
The general objectives are to combat those forms of new poverty identified by young people themselves in workshops, calling on them to process their private and social experiences, identifying and conceptualising the educational gaps that schools and families are slow to recognise and address. The project aims to support schools and families by encouraging reflection and intergenerational dialogue among young people, promoting quality education that is attentive to recognising and remedially combating these new forms of social and cultural handicap among young people.
Priority areas for intervention include the promotion of long-distance support, education for sustainable development and the dissemination of a culture of volunteering.
The lines of activity include extracurricular training, based on the formative assessment of direct experiences that actively involve young people in local and long-distance social activities, such as development cooperation, the reception and integration of migrants, and charitable actions to support vulnerable people and populations from a distance.
The lines of activity include extracurricular training, based on the formative assessment of direct experiences that actively involve young people in local and remote social activities, such as development cooperation, the reception and integration of migrants, and charitable actions to support vulnerable individuals and populations from a distance.
The expected results include greater social inclusion, better access to welfare services, strengthening of community ties and improvement of educational and social well-being.
If well designed and implemented, the model becomes replicable and transferable, aiming to increase local SAV experiences and consolidate the national SaV network, which paves the way for and promotes the development of supportive communities and more effective local welfare.
