In a social context marked by educational poverty, territorial inequalities and growing mistrust of institutions among young people, the ‘COLTIVA IL FUTURO’ project was created as a concrete and innovative response to the educational challenges of contemporary Italy.
Promoted by the Forum SAD network and coordinated by Project for People, “Cultivate the Future” aims to strengthen educational communities through the dissemination of experiential education methodology, focusing on youth leadership, active participation and the development of key citizenship skills.
The initiative is based on the belief that education cannot be limited to the theoretical transmission of knowledge, but must translate into concrete and meaningful experiences that connect learning, real life and the community. The project is inspired by the Learning by Doing approach and the theoretical framework of embodied education, which emphasises the role of the body, action and the social context in educational processes.

Goals achieved
• UMBRIA: training course in secondary schools at the Liceo delle Scienze Umane (Human Sciences High School) in Spoleto and Foligno, involving a total of six classes;
• UMBRIA: fun activities and interactive workshops for children, in which students from the Liceo delle Scienze Umane secondary schools in Spoleto and Foligno played an active role;
• CALABRIA: experiential programme in secondary schools at the Liceo Scientifico Statale “R. Lombardi Satriani” secondary school.
Goals to be achieved
• Mapping of individuals who implement best practices in experiential education in the 21 project areas
• Meetings of stakeholders in the educational community
• A national meeting to promote experiential education methodology as an educational tool
• Training students, volunteers, operators and educators from educational community organisations in the socio-educational and socio-pedagogical fields, with a focus on experiential education methodology for combating educational poverty.
• Local participatory events and initiatives that promote and bring to the attention of citizens the methodology and outcomes of experiential education programmes in the area, in collaboration with the EC.
• Design and implementation of one or more educational services co-designed with local educational communities based on the experiential education methodology
• Implementation of a communication campaign to spread the value of experiential education and give visibility to youth leadership initiatives and the final conference, which will collect and disseminate the results and best practices developed during the project.
