TELEMEDICINE FOR THE GAZA STRIP

The HEALTH CAMPAIGN FOR PALESTINE, launched by GSI Italia around three months ago, is enjoying growing success, with members of the public donating over €30,000 in financial resources, the stockpiling of medicines and medical supplies worth over €150,000, the willingness of doctors and paramedics to offer their expertise for missions to Palestine once Israel permits it, and in the immediate term, for the remote training of nurses and rehabilitation specialists and for specialist consultations with Palestinian doctors via video link.
This form of remote collaboration between Italian doctors and nursing trainers who have joined our Campaign is set to begin in the coming days.
Khan Yunis, in the south of the Strip, is the pilot site for this cooperation and assistance, with two further hospitals in the Strip and the West Bank already having applied to join.
Telemedicine, as a remedy for the isolation of a people but also as a sign of solidarity with healthcare workers deprived of diagnostic and treatment tools – one facet among many of the genocide of the Palestinian people.
