Nakba 2026: hatred in the streets and institutional silence

On 14 May 2026, on the eve of Nakba Day, tens of thousands of people marched through Jerusalem chanting “Death to the Arabs” and “May your villages burn”, with the financial and political backing of their government.
The so-called “Flag March” is not a spontaneous demonstration by fanatics on the fringes of society.
Participants are transported by bus from all over Israel and from settlements in the occupied West Bank. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich attended in person. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir led a group of Israelis into the Al-Aqsa area, waving the Israeli flag in front of the Dome of the Rock, a site sacred to Arabs, before posting on Telegram: “We have restored sovereignty to the Temple Mount.”
How many generations will it take to restore dignity to Israel?
