THE CONSTRUCTION WORKS OF THE MULTISERVICE CENTRE FOR STREET CHILDREN IN KINSHASA MOVE TOWARDS THE CONCLUSION

ISCO, the Italian construction company operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo, will deliver to GSI Italia within Christmas time the new structure for street children commissioned at the beginning of the current year, in full compliance with the contractual agreement. The structure that will be entrusted by GSI Italia to the management of the local partner AESD, is located in Tshangu, on the road that leads to the international airport of Kinshasa, a violent district with high incidence of prostitution.

It will be the center of “acute reception” and health care for the girls in need, helped by our two ambulances by our second partner, Oseper. It will also allow a residency of some weeks, up to 6 months, psychological and legal assistance for cases of suffered violence and a first literacy. The direct training for the girls’ take charge will be external to the structure but always financed by the GSI Italia project.

The reintegration into families and communities of origin or the placement in small protected structures outside the capital will be the final stage of our intervention. This last operation will also be supported by the economic investments of our association and by a monitoring of its good end for the two years following the externalization from the Center.

With the delivery of the new structure, GSI Italia will start the final phase of its project intervention, which will be completed in a year with the delivery of the structures and operations in the field to the two local partners, AESD and Oseper.

Dear friends, we will keep you informed as usual, because you are, all of you who support us, the owners and the actors of the results we are able to obtain in the countries of poverty and extreme needs.

Good work to all of us, useful tools of solidarity.
