PREPARATIONS FOR THE SHIPMENT TO CUBA CONTINUE

The medical supplies that GSI Italia is preparing for Cuban hospitals, in collaboration with and with the help of a network of other civil society organisations, will set off on 10 August as part of the “Nostra America” airlift. Containers, aircraft holds and solidarity suitcases carried by tourists travelling to the Caribbean island are the various methods used, on a case-by-case basis, to dispatch different types of supplies: long-life food, clothing suitable for the Cuban climate and, alongside these, medicines from GSI Italia. The “Blocco Sociale del Mutuo Soccorso” in Terni, “ASI Cuba Umbria”, the “Swiss Association of the Canton of Ticino”, and “Emilia per Cuba” are the names of the organisations involved, but above all they represent dozens upon dozens of young and not-so-young advocates for justice and humanity, who refuse to resign themselves to living idly in a world of oppression and abuse at the hands of warlords and embargoes – the lords of death. In defiance of the narrative peddled by the news programmes, we – who love human beings – care about the lives of others.
