WE ARE DYING OF THIRST
tells us the woman, who, together with her children, is waiting for a water tanker that may or may not arrive. Waiting for water, with plastic containers lined up for hundreds of metres, sometimes for kilometres, is one of the main activities of Palestinians in Gaza, as in the West Bank.
THE ISRAELIS USE WATER AS A WEAPON OF DESTRUCTION.
THEY HAVE SEALED OUR WELLS WITH CONCRETE.
They prevent water tankers from entering or target them, destroying pipelines and desalination plants. Doctors at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, with whom GSI Italia collaborates, tell us that at least 20 per cent of treatment requests are for skin conditions and diarrhoea caused by unsafe drinking water. For this child and his family, a small bucket of water means life for a few more days. Until he finds out.
He knows, however, that it will be the Israeli army that decides his fate
