Medical aid on the move for Gaza

Those who care deeply about the suffering of the Palestinian people are taking action. Now that the initial emotional response, sparked by television images, has passed, the rationale for action is coming to the fore.
The Health Campaign for Palestine, launched by GSI Italia as part of the programme proposed by Forum Sad, is gaining increasing support among private citizens just one month after its launch, with rising donations and commitments from companies and civil society and solidarity organisations.
This is the case with Nexus Solidarietà Internazionale, an ETS based in Bologna, which, having learnt of the campaign’s existence through information sent to associations affiliated with AOI, Focsiv and Forum SaD, felt it was their duty to take action, procuring, for example, no fewer than 17 pallets (80x120x180 cm) of medical equipment and consumables, made available by Servizi Ospedalieri SpA in Ferrara.
Therefore, unity is strength – the strength that the Palestinian people expect from all of us, individual associations and networks alike.
The Campaign calls on every association and every individual worker to move beyond lamenting the inhumanity of our times and to take action to combat and provide care, according to their abilities and expertise, by providing the Campaign with healthcare workers willing to offer their services safely, as soon as possible, alongside Palestinian doctors, and by seeking and making available resources to cover their remuneration. Meetings currently taking place in Egypt with the Egyptian and Palestinian Red Crescent Societies, alongside direct contacts with the Latin Patriarchate, are paving the way for relief and support efforts for the people of the Gaza Strip.
