FINALLY, BEDS FOR THE SICK IN BODITTI

Boditti is a large village in Ethiopia with a population of around 30,000 people. It is located approximately 300 km south of Addis Ababa, in the Wolaita region, at an altitude of 1,774 metres. The local hospital serves a catchment area of 500,000 people. A visit by the president of GSI Italia, Loiacono, in October, concluded with a commitment by the Italian association to supply the first 50 beds by spring 2026. The donation of the beds was motivated by the observation that patients were lying on the floor, on mats or dirty sponge beds. The association has committed to following up on the donation of beds with missions of doctors and other healthcare personnel by 2026. The beds were received by Mekdes, a member of the federal parliament, the mayor of Boditti, doctors and local political authorities.
