Description

The unease of young people in the institutions has reached alarming levels and policy is increasingly inattentive to their requests and participation. The project “Adopt a regional councilor” connects young and politics, calling teenagers to compete in a process of active citizenship with local politicians who accept a close encounter with new stakeholders. A program lasting 15 months, whose specific objective is to promote in the Umbrian territory the active citizenship of 300 young people between 15 and 22 years old through the participation of 30 upper schools. The expected result of the intervention consists of a dialogue between young people and the elected representatives in the Regional Council and it can be verify through the website www.youthcrumbria.eu,

What has been done

  1. the creation of 30 editing (300 editors, 10 for each editing), in constant dialogue with each other and with the 30 regional councilors “adopted” (1 for each editing);
  2. the organization of 4 training workshops, focused on the 300 editors and attended by the 30 regional councilors, in order to identify and formulate a participatory “spelling-book of direct democracy”;
  3. the organization of 30 meetings, one for each school, with the adopted councilor;
  4. the preparation of a dedicated website (www.youyhcrumbria.eu) and its continuous update – guaranteed by the contributions deriving from the 30 newsrooms – on the parliamentary activity of each elected, in particular on policies inspired from the same and interesting young people;
  5. the organization of a “Youth Regional Conference”, in connection with the European Week;
  6. the organization of a final workshop to present the results and discuss new proposals in order to ensure to the intervention a real future sustainability.
