Among the initiatives identified by Forum Sad to support the people of the Gaza Strip, the delivery of medicines takes absolute priority. The border crossings, both the Egyptian and the Jordanian ones, remain under the control of the Israeli military authorities, which allow goods and materials to enter only sporadically. International non-governmental organisations operating in the Strip have received an eviction notice from the Israeli government authorities, which has been temporarily blocked by the Israeli judiciary.

Given the difficulties in scheduling the humanitarian aid operation planned by Forum Sad and led by GSI Italia, it has become necessary to launch a mission to Egypt, led by CISS, the Palermo-based association already active in the Strip with Palestinian staff providing childcare support.

Sergio Cipolla, president of the Sicilian association, is currently holding talks with the leadership of the Egyptian and Palestinian Red Crescent to plan the dispatch of containers via Egyptian ports and border crossings, and their handover to the Palestinian Red Crescent for distribution to the remaining aid facilities still in operation.
