Water as a common good in both the Global South and North
L’Unione fa per Tre (Three Makes a Union) is a recently concluded international cooperation and global citizenship project promoted by GSI Marche in collaboration with GSI Italia, with the support of the Marche Region. The initiative combined solidarity actions in the Global South with awareness-raising activities on the issue of North-South inequalities.
In the village of Gemena, in the Congolese province of South Ubangi, the project has guaranteed access to drinking water for over 3,000 people through the construction of a photovoltaic-powered well, as well as toilets and water reuse systems for agriculture and livestock farming.
At the same time, educational courses were held in schools in the Marche region to promote responsible use of water among young people, recognising it as an essential common good for all.
