MBANDAKA HOSPITAL OPENS IN THE PROVINCE OF EQUATOR
The hospital in the capital of the aforementioned Congolese province of Equator was recently inaugurated. GSI Italia contributed to its interior preparation by shipping the furnishings for the patient rooms in a container.
We received the news from Father Patrick Mbawa, our local representative of the city’s Pedagogical Institute, who thanked GSI Italia for its essential contribution to the project. He also sent us a series of commemorative photos of the event, which we reproduce here.
Mbandaka is a town that stretches along the banks of the Congo, 4 km above the equator, the dividing line between the two hemispheres. And Equator was the name Mbandaka originally received in 1883, when it was founded by the English explorer Henry Morton Stanly.
