Since our initial social media post, GSI Italia has received numerous emails requesting information on the condition of the newborn, who survived after his mother was killed whilst breastfeeding him. The laceration to his left arm and the amputation of one of his feet have deeply moved the public, particularly women. Offers of financial support, requests to be kept informed, and offers of help \u201cwith anything\u201d are the messages from readers of our posts about the little boy. Last night, 9 July, our healthcare colleagues \u2013 who, as part of the GSI Italia Campaign, coordinate training and specialist consultancy work with Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, the hospital where the baby was admitted and operated on \u2013 asked their Palestinian colleagues for a clinical update on the baby\u2019s condition. Meanwhile, GSI Italia has been in contact with the Italian Consulate in Jerusalem for the past few days, in preparation for the baby\u2019s possible medical repatriation to Italy, at our Association\u2019s expense. We are awaiting the publication of the next medical bulletin from the team treating Mohammed, due next week, to decide whether or not to initiate the application procedures with the WHO, the organisation which, in agreement with the Palestinian health authorities, can authorise the transfer and entrust the child\u2019s care to the Italian health service.<\/p>\n
