During the Covid pandemic, you will recall how a team of Cuban doctors came to lend a hand to the Italian health service; and you may also recall that the Calabrian health service was forced to entrust some of its hospital services to these very Cuban doctors, some of whom are still working in community healthcare in Calabria today.<\/p>\n

The embargo imposed by the US in 1960 is still in place and has by now destroyed all economic and financial capacity on Fidel Castro\u2019s island. From many parts of the world \u2013 partly in retaliation against US arrogance in seeking to intervene militarily in the country \u2013 relief flights carrying food and medicines are being organised.<\/p>\n

From August onwards, GSI Italia, responding to an invitation from Umbrian civil society organisations, will also contribute to the airlift of aid to Cuban hospitals, providing substantial quantities of medicines and medical supplies. This is in return for what has been received, including political support, from the Caribbean island.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
