GSI ITALIA is a non-governmental organization working in the international cooperation and solidarity fields; it has been operating in Italy since 1997, through training and awareness projects on development and underdevelopment and through the promotion of campaigns against racism and xenophobia. GSI ITALIA implements programs addressed to human rights and works in strict connection with migrants by promoting measures of acceptance, protection and support: the association offers legal advice, manages programs of honor loans and housing guaranty, promotes training courses, and supplies schools with linguistic / cultural tools and services. Furthermore GSI ITALIA is involved in the protection of citizenship as a means for building a more democratic society, where citizens are the decision-makers of their own future, their territory and the European one; the NGO also promotes Fair Tourism and Fair Trade and coordinates the Federation of local authorities and municipalities called “Città Solidale”.
